We’re Focused on What Matters Most Right Now in Northern Nevada

At the Junior League of Reno we live in the moment. To us, that means adjusting our focus according to our community’s most pressing needs. Our work is always evolving, and that keeps us on our toes, striving for progress, and preparing to take on whatever comes next.

Our goal is to help Northern Nevada women develop civic leadership skills through the work they do, then put those talents to work in the communities that need it. Our current focus gives women opportunities to grow, while positively impacting the communities where they live and work.

We’re Creating Fulfilling Leadership Opportunities Throughout Northern Nevada

The Junior League of Reno offers so much more than local volunteering opportunities! Our League of leaders creates real change by advancing social activism-focused projects that directly benefit the communities of Northern Nevada. By giving women the tools to lead, educating them about their communities’ needs, and helping them put their unique brand of creativity and skill to work, the Junior League of Reno is making a big impact on our community.

We’re Transforming Northern Nevada Communities By Challenging the Status Quo

No matter what we’re currently focusing on, the Junior League of Reno’s work centers around improving our local communities through effective action and leadership. We have identified the most pressing issues in our community right now, and we are helping local women take action to resolve them. So far this year, we have partnered with Girls on the Run and Safe Embrace.

Girls on the Run works to encourage pre-teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games, culminating in a celebratory 5k run. Junior League of Reno gave them a $30,000 grant and partnered with them to expand the program to reach more girls, especially in Title 1 schools.

Safe Embrace is dedicated to ending intimate partner violence through intervention and prevention services, as well as educational programs. Junior League of Reno created the Purple Rose Boutique, which is a place for women there to shop and obtain much needed items for the next stage of their life.
